After their debut album, the group received an offer from RCA, which was looking to launch a new "progressive" label: Neon. The band members enthusiastically accepted. That year, 1970, there was also a lack of a female vocalist who could bring a broader range to the compositions: thus, Polly Bolton, a singer-songwriter from Leamington Spa, joined the band. Polly undoubtedly had a very expressive voice. She was no stranger: before joining Dando Shaft, she had already collaborated with June Tabor and bassist Roger Bullen, who was also the one who had proposed and introduced her to the group. The gatefold cover is very beautiful and carefully crafted, featuring a singular image: a carousel, with its wooden horses, completely destroyed. The album features some beautiful compositions by Polly Bolton, particularly "Whispering Ned," a rather ironic song about drugs, but overall the overlapping of different influences is evident, from English tradition to Eastern European sounds. Overall, the album is good, probably her best, the fruit of careful work and meticulous arrangements. Martin Jenkins's style, in all its originality, is clearly evident: he shapes the sound and oversees the arrangements.

Dopo il disco di debutto, il gruppo riceve un’offerta da parte della RCA che voleva lanciare in quegli anni sul mercato una nuova etichetta “progressive”: la Neon. I componenti della band accettarono con entusiasmo. In quell’anno, eravamo nel 1970, si sentiva anche la mancanza di una voce femminile che potesse dare una più ampia gamma di registri alle composizioni: fu così che entrò nella band Polly Bolton, cantautrice proveniente da Leamington Spa. Sicuramente Polly aveva una voce molto espressiva. Non era una sconosciuta: prima di entrare nei Dando Shaft aveva già collaborato con June Tabor e col bassista Roger Bullen che era anche colui che l’aveva proposta e introdotta nel gruppo. Molto belle e curata è la copertina “gatefold” che presenta un’immagine singolare: una giostra, con i suoi cavalli di legno, completamente distrutta. Nel disco ci sono alcune belle composizioni di Polly Bolton, in particolare “Whispering Ned”, una canzone sul tema della droga alquanto ironica, ma in generale è evidente il sovrapporsi di influenze diverse, dalla tradizione inglese alle sonorità dell’est europeo. Nel complesso il disco è buono, probabilmente il migliore, frutto di un lavoro attento e di scrupolosi arrangiamenti. Lo stile di Martin Jenkins, nella sua originalità, si nota, eccome: è lui a improntare le sonorità e a curare gli arrangiamenti.
