A very beautiful album, but
not easy to find. It's a mature work, oriented towards the recovery of
traditional sounds and characterized by remarkable vocals: Bert and
Jacqui's voices combined have a highly evocative effect, as if they
possessed an evocative aura capable of uniting past and present. Among
the songs, "The Cherry Tree Carol" and "No Love is Sorrow" deserve
special mention. The cover, designed by Chris Ayliffe, is one of those
that yellows with age: it features the group's symbolic pentagon,
within which historical and mythological images alternate.
Un album molto bello ma di
non facile reperibilità.Si tratta di un lavoro maturo,
orientato al recupero di sonorità tradizionali e
caratterizzato da notevoli vocalità: le voci di Bert e
Jacqui unite, hanno un effetto di grande suggestione, come se avessero
un alone evocativo in grado di unire presente e passato. Tra le
canzoni, meritano una segnalazione "The Cherry Tree Carol" e "No Love
is Sorrow". La copertina disegnata da Chris Ayliffe è di
quelle che ingialliscono col tempo: essa rappresenta il pentagono
simbolo del gruppo, al cui interno immagini storiche e mitologiche si
alternano.
