Pentangle, Open the Door, LP UK Spindrift Records 1985 - SPIN 111 

Producers John and Rick Chelew supported the release of this album, inviting Pentangle to add a jazzy touch to English folk music. Only John Renbourn was missing, his guitar replaced by Mike Piggott's violin. Bert, Jacqui, Terry, and Danny seemed highly motivated and ready for a grand relaunch. Unfortunately, the move didn't go beyond the initial excitement. Many hoped for the band's star to shine brighter than ever (and dreamed of John's return) but this album was dull, enjoyable, but lacking in memorable moments. Manca all’appello solo John Renbourn la cui chitarra viene sostituita dal violino di Mike Piggott: Bert, Jacqui, Terry e Danny sembrano ben motivati e pronti per un rilancio in grande stile. Purtroppo l’operazione non va oltre l'iniziale emozione. La speranza di molti di rivedere più luminosa che mai la stella della band (sognando un rientro di John) viene delusa da un disco senza energia, piacevole certo, ma privo di spunti memorabili. La grande storia del gruppo è scritta altrove.
