Pentangle, In the Round, LP UK Making Waves 1986 - SPIN120

The reconstituted Pentangle struggled to find their new path; the new arrangements and creative style made them miss the old lineup, where John Renbourn's presence was felt. The percussion, for example, followed rock rhythms, often too simple and schematic. Nevertheless, the album features some good compositions, such as the syncopated "Sunday Morning Blues" or the songs "Suil Agrar" and "Circle the Moon." The graphic design by a certain "Archie" (?) was very weak, as were the black and white photographs by Dave Peabody.

I ricostituiti Pentangle faticano a trovare la nuova strada, i nuovi arrangiamenti e lo stile creativo fanno rimpiangere la vecchia formazione dove si sentiva la presenza di John Renbourn. Le percussioni ad esempio seguono ritmi rock, spesso troppo semplici, schematici. Ciononostante l'album presenta alcune buone composizioni come "Sunday Morning Blues", dal ritmo sincopato, o le canzoni "Suil Agrar" e "Circle the moon". Molto debole è il progetto grafico di un tal "Archie" (?), così come poco significative sono le fotografie B/N di Dave Peabody.
