This Pogues album is probably their most beautiful; the sound is certainly less harsh and more refined, but the compositions are generally very engaging. Much credit probably goes to producer Joe Strummer and sound engineer Pail Cobbold. The cover, designed by Joshua Cheuse, is unique and evocative: a map whose locations are the titles of The Pogues' songs.
