The John Renbourn Group didn't begin as a commercial project, but simply as a relaxed gathering of good people with some musical ideas they wanted to share. In those years, Peter Blake had already founded The New Ruralists, and the group represents its musical equivalent. The music is consciously popular with nods to tradition, and Renbourn maintains that the contributions of the various artists were as important as his own: if the group was labeled The John Renbourn Group, it was only because the record company deemed it the most visible and recognizable solution. John Renbourn Group non è nato come un progetto commerciale ma semplicemente come un incontro rilassato di brave persone con alcune idee musicali che intendevano mettere in comune.
