This album represents a new project for Renbourn, and the cover caption reads "John Renbourn's Ship of Fools." The group features big names for the first time, including Maggie Boyle and Steve Tilston. The vinyl version was released on American label Flying Fish in 1988, but also on Run River with a different cover. Producer Mitch Greenhill asked Ian Dent to record the album at Daylaight Studios in South Devon. The American edition's cover features a beautiful new illustration by Eric von Schmidt. Total time 42:14.

Nel gruppo compaiono per la prima volta grandi nomi tra cui Maggie Boyle e Steve Tilston.
